I have been totally crushing on Han Skin Care Cosmetics since I was introduced to the company through one of my Petit Vour subscription boxes. If you aren’t familiar with Han, let me give you the scoop. Their mission is to create high quality, vibrant color cosmetics while nourishing and promoting healthy skin. Hence the name, “Skin Care Cosmetics”.
What IS in the products? Han products contain nourishing butters, moisturizing oils, anti-aging antioxidants from acai, blueberry and other powerful super fruits, green tea and black tea, vegetable, fruit and plant pigments and pure minerals. The plant and food pigments in HAN Skin Care Cosmetics products have beneficial anti-aging properties providing skin care treatment in addition to imparting beautiful colors. Additionally, products are never tested on animals and are PETA approved and Leaping Bunny Certified and all products are proudly made in the USA.
What you will NEVER find in any of Han’s products: Synthetic colorants or undesirable natural sources, such as carmine, (beetle bug that is crushed for its red dye), lakes or FD&C, parabens or other chemically sourced preservatives.
LIPGLOSS ($14) – I love lip gloss, so when Han sent me two of their lip glosses to try I was really excited to see how they performed. The first color I tried out was Peachy Nude. The name is completely fitting. You can see in the swatches that it is a mellow peach color with a hint of nude. I am a medium tan completion and with one swipe on the lips the color is very sheer, with just a touch of soft peach. If I want a bit more color, I have to add a couple more layers. This gloss has no shimmer, which I love. The second color is Pretty Cool Pink. I would describe this color as a watermelon pink. It is definitely deeper in color than a baby pink but not as bright or intense as a fuscia. This makes it very wearable on many different skin tones. This gloss has a slight shimmer to it when swatched and in the tube, but on the lips I can barely see any shimmer at all. Both glosses feel extremely light and comfortable on the lips and are very hydrating. My lips tend to get very dry and chapped, so I love the fact that these glosses keep my lips moisturized and soft. They both also have a subtle vanilla scent. For those of you who are sensitive to scents, don’t fret it is definitely not intrusive by any means. I love wearing these alone and on top of lipstick. But my favorite way to wear them is with lip liner. I line my lips and partially fill them, filling from the outside corners in and usually leaving the middle/inner sections of my lips unfilled (sort of creating a faded look) and then using the gloss on the inner, unfilled sections of my lips.
BLUSH ($15) – I always get excited to try out a new blush. And when I received Strawberry Pink, it was no different. The color is a beautiful vibrant medium pink with no shimmer. I am impressed by the pigmentation and lasting power. I like a heavier blush look and even then I don’t need to apply very much to get great color payoff. On me, the blush lasts pretty much all day without having to do any touch ups. It sits nicely on the skin and works well with both powder and liquid foundation. Instead of using talc, all of Han’s blushes are made with rice powder which helps absorb any excess oil.
EYE SHADOW ($13) – For those of you who don’t know. I am a brown/copper/bronze eye shadow addict. So Taupey Plum is right up my alley. The color is a nice bronzy brown with just enough of plum to make this shade stand out from any other browns you may already own. I find that when applied heavier, the purple shows up a bit more than when applied lightly. In varying light the color will also either come through more bronzy brown or more brownish plummy. The texture is silky, smooth and extremely blendable. There is very little fallout and creasing with this eye shadow—a huge plus in my book! I typically don’t use any primer on my lids, but if you have oily lids a primer helps eliminate any creasing.
THE VERDICT: Give them a try, Han Skin Care Cosmetics is exceptional on so many levels. I love their philosophy and mission and most of all that they have created cosmetics that are both good for you AND beautiful. Another point worth mentioning is that Han is extremely affordable. I appreciate a company who creates quality cosmetics at an affordable price point. Aside from the amazing cosmetics, I love that Han is a brand with heart, who is committed and passionate about creating cosmetics that are healthy for consumers. Why? Because they care and that is undoubtedly apparent. Nothing makes me happier than supporting companies who do wonderful work, especially those based out of my neck of the woods in the San Francisco Bay Area! Keep up the amazing work!
