Skincare As Self-Care (My skincare routine with Corson Beauty Skincare)
In the last couple of years my skincare routine has transformed from being just something I do to keep my skin looking healthy, into “me time”. This is my personal way of treating myself to some well-deserved self-care; where I take time to focus on myself and indulging, not only my skin, but my senses with cleansers, toners, oils etc. Needless to say, when I received the opportunity to test out a couple of Corson Beauty’s products, I jumped at the chance because I knew they would add something extra special to my skincare ritual. If you aren’t familiar with Corson Beauty, it is a plant based skincare brand founded by sisters Marilyn and Bridget who started creating their own formulas when they couldn’t find skincare that meet all their requirements. To get to know more about Marilyn, Bridget and the Corson Beauty brand backstory check out my interview with the sisters.
I like to keep my skincare routine pretty simple for a few of reasons: 1) As a busy mom of two young boys, I can’t afford to spend tons of time or energy on a morning/nighttime skin care routine 2) My skin responds better when I keep it simple. 3) Just the thought of a lengthy and complicated skincare routine turns me off, so keeping it easy and simple ensures that I follow through with my skincare ritual.
Morning Skincare Ritual:
Most mornings I don’t wash with a cleanser (unless I feel it’s necessary), I simply splash water on my face. I follow up with a toner. Carson Beauty’s toner has quickly becoming one of my favorites. I liberally spritz the toner all over my face and neck. Using the toner is one of my favorite parts of my morning ritual;the scent alone makes me smile and lifts my spirits.
Once I’ve toned, I add about 4 drops of the Corson Beauty Night Oil into the palm of my hands. I then use my fingertips to massage the oil into my skin. After I have massaged the oil onto my entire face/neck area, I use the palm of my hands and press whatever is left of the oil onto my face/neck. If time permits, I use my Jade roller to help penetrate the oil. When I don’t have time for the Jade roller in the AM, I try to incorporate it in my PM ritual.
Lastly, I spritz the toner all over my face a couple more times to seal in all the hydration.

Evening Skincare Ritual:
It is pretty similar to my AM ritual with a couple minor additions. After cleansing, I liberally spritz the toner all over my face and neck. Once my face is mostly dry, I apply hyaluronic acid to may face and neck. After that has absorbed, I add about 8 drops of the Night Oil onto the palm of my hands. Just like in the AM, I massage it into my face/neck with my fingertips and then use whatever is left of the oil in the palm of my hands to press onto my face/neck. If time and energy allows, I will use my Jade roller to further penetrate the Night Oil into my skin. Lastly, I seal it all in with a few more spritzes of Toner.

My Experience with Corson Beauty Toner and Night Oil
Not only does it smell divine–if you are a Jasmine lover, like I am, this one is worth a try–but it also contains White Willow Bark. For those who aren’t familiar with White Willow Bark, it acts as a natural exfoliant and has anti-inflammatory properties. I love ingredients that naturally exfoliate because it helps keep my skin clear and bright with out having to use a physical exfoliant such as a scrub. The other ingredients include Rose Hydrosol, Honey Extract, Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Lactobacillus Ferment, Coconut Fruit Extract, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Jasmine Oil. So many beneficial ingredients in one bottle, right? The rose hydrosol, aloe and honey are among my favorites because I find they soothe, calm and deeply hydrate my skin, which leans on the drier side. After a month of exclusively using the Corson Beauty Toner, I thought I’d be itching to switch it up, but honestly, I look forward to using this toner and haven’t been wanting to use anything else. I actually use it throughout the day when I need a little refreshing or a bit of a hydration boost. And come on, when a product has a scent as delicious as this one, any excuse to spritz throughout the day will do.
The Night Oil is comprised of a combination of some of my favorite oils such as Avocado, Jojoba and Seabuckthorn. It is technically a “night oil”, but I wanted to get as much use out of it before sharing my thoughts, so I’ve been using it as a daytime oil too. For use during the day, I only use about 4 drops, which works well for me. The Night Oil has a gorgeous amber hue to it and is rich in texture. Having said that, I don’t feel that it is too heavy or greasy for daytime use (just use less than you would as night). One of the reasons I love this oil is that it gives me a “just worked out” glow, without the workout or sweat! Awesome, huh? I don’t typically wear foundation on a day to day basis, and sometimes I find myself feeling the need to use something light to even or conceal flaws, but when using this oil, I feel less inclined to cover up my bare skin. The Night Oil contains Rose Hip Oil which is said to heal scars and marks, as well as Watermelon Seed Oil and Pumpkin Seed Oil to help slow and reduce the signs of aging. The scent of the Night Oil is one of my favorites because just like the Toner, it contains Jasmine Oil, but it also has Australian Sandalwood and Vetiver. If you’re sensitive to scents or prefer a face oil with a neutral scent, you may not be into this one. Personally, I don’t find the scent too strong, but again I’m a huge Jasmine lover. Side note: my 4 year old always comments on how good I smell after I use the toner and oil. Lastly, all Corson Beauty products come in glass bottles. I love when brands use glass versus plastic because it helps protect the high-quality ingredients inside the bottle and is better for the environment. Win, Win! I look forward to everything Corson Beauty comes out with in the future. For a hint of what they have in the works, check out my Q + A with the founders.
